Create this fun tactile weather station for your classroom. Teach students about the changing weather and temperatures each day by changing the weather station to match the current weather.

Learning Objective(s)

  • Students will be able to observe and describe weather and temperature changes over time.

Materials Required

  • White Kraftboard

  • Red Cardstock

  • Orange Cardstock

  • Yellow Cardstock

  • Green Cardstock

  • Blue Cardstock

  • Pink Cardstock

  • Purple Cardstock

  • Black Cardstock

  • Printable Cardstock


Other tools and materials:
  • Glue

  • Metal Brads

  • Black Pen or Marker

  • Hook and Loop Sticker Fasteners

Instructions

  • Use your machine to print then cut images and cut and draw pieces of the weather station,

  • Glue together the thermometer pieces.

  • Glue the cloud and sun images to the weather station base.

  • Glue the thermometer to the weather station base.

  • Use the metal brad to attach the wind spinner and arrow to the weather station base.

  • Apply hook and loop sticker dots to the area next to the thermometer and the small arrow, and the days of the week.

Assessment

  • Students will complete a weather journal for one week, recording daily weather and temperature observations, including drawings and simple sentences to describe what they see.
