Description of Cricut Lesson & Activity

In grades K-2, students digitally draw inspirational and kind stickers on their iPads and save their files. Next, using the print print and cut feature, stickers are created and shared to promote kindness. The stickers are displayed on personal items, encouraging a culture of support and positivity by appreciating and passing on acts of kindness.

Learning Objective(s)

  • Students will showcase creativity by crafting their own motivational and kindness stickers using iPads.

Materials Required

Instructions

  1. Begin the lesson by discussing the importance of kindness and its impact on others. Explain that today, they will be creating kindness stickers to spread positive messages.

  2. Reading Session: Read "Be Kind" by Pat Zietlow Miller to the class.

  3. After reading, discuss the themes and examples of kindness depicted in the book.

  4. Motivational Inspiration: Show examples of existing motivational posters and sayings. Discuss how these messages can inspire and uplift others.

  5. Sharing Personal Favorites: Have students share their own favorite kindness messages or inspirational phrases. Encourage them to think about why these messages resonate with them.

  6. Initial Sketching: Provide students with paper and drawing materials to sketch their ideas for kindness stickers. Encourage creativity and personal expression.

  7. Digital Design: Once initial sketches are completed, have students use their iPads to create their final desigins using a drawing app of their choice (Book Creator or PicEdu).

  8. Saving and Sharing: Instruct students to save their final designs to their camera roll. Then, have them share their designs to Google Classroom or Seesaw.

  9. Sticker Creation: Teacher will collect all final designs from the digital submissions. Using Cricut Design Space and the Print and Cut feature, turn the designs into stickers for students.

  10. Distribute the printed stickers to students and encourage them to use and share them as a way to spread kindness. Celebrate their creativity and the positive impact of their messages.

Assessment

  • Participation in discussions and sharing sessions.
  • Completion of both paper and digital sketches.
  • Submission of final designs via Google Classroom or Seesaw.
  • Quality and creativity of the final stick-er designs.
