Create this fun 3D solar system learning tool for students to learn about the planets and our solar system.

Learning Objective(s)

  • Students will be able to identify and describe the key components of the solar system, including planets, moons, and other celestial bodies.

Materials Required

  • Black Kraftboard

  • Black Cardstock

  • Red Cardstock

  • Orange Cardstock

  • Yellow Cardstock

  • Cream Cardstock

  • Grey Cardstock

  • Blue Cardstock

  • Green Cardstock

  • Purple Cardstock

  • Dark Blue Cardstock

  • Rust Cardstock


Other tools and materials:
  • Scoring tool

  • Glue

Instructions

  • Load the cardstock into your machine and cut the designs.

  • Piece together the planet colors and glue together.

  • Glue the planets to the coordinating pages.

  • Accordion fold the spine cardstock paper piece, and glue one side of the folds to create the book spine.

  • Glue the pages to the other open side of the spine piece.

  • Optional: You can flatten the planets and print them on sticker paper to make this project faster and easier to do for each student.

Assessment

  • Students will create a visual presentation (poster or digital) of a selected planet or celestial body that includes key facts, its position in the solar system, and interesting characteristics. The presentation will be assessed based on content accuracy, creativity, and clarity of
    information.
